Phenomenon like reflection and refraction of light can be satisfactorily using ray optics.
Reflection:- when light travelling in one medium falls on a surface of a second medium, a part of the incident light is turned back into the first medium. This is called reflection of light.
Refraction:-The phenomenon of the change in the path of light as it passes obliquely from one transparent medium to another is called refraction of light.
Ray optics explain the formation of images in Mirrors and lenses the aberrations of optical images and the working and designing of optical instruments.
It is based on the following assumptions:-
1) It is based on the rectilinear propagation of light that is light travel in a straight line.
2)It is based on the laws of reflection and refraction of light.
