Q1. For the complex [ Fe (en)2 cl2 ] cl  ( en= ethylenediamine) identify

i) the hybrid orbitals and the shape of the complex,

ii) the magnetic behaviour of the complex.

In [Fe(en)2Cl2]Cl, Fe exist as Fe(III) ion.

It is an octahedral complex (sp3d2 hybridisation) with one unpaired electron so it will be paramagnetic in nature.

[Fe(en)2Cl2]+ consists two didentate ligands en(ethylenediamine)  and two unidentate ligands (Cl). It will exist in two geometrical isomers cis and trans and the cis isomer will further have two optical isomers.

i>yaar refer n.c.e.r.t... if you will not get . then i will surely explain you tommorow . here is your ans for second question.

ii> it will be paramagnetic in nature. use valence bond theory. en is strong field ligand and hence pairs the electron of iron(3).
