what are dimensional variables and non dimensional variables.explain with examples

Dear Student,
Dimensional variables-
Those physical quantities which have dimensions but do not have fixed value are known as dimensional variables e.g. force ,velocity, work etc. Thus one force may have value 4N and the other may have magnitude of 10N. Force has dimension [MLT-2] but not a fixed value.
Dimensionless variables-
Those physical quantities which have neither dimensions nor fixed values are called dimensionless variables e.g. specific gravity, strain and angle etc. Thus specific gravity of water is different from that of mercury. Specific gravity has no dimensions. However the specific gravity has different value for different substances.
Regards.
