What does more basic metals and less basic metals mean in the given para?? The net result of electrolytic refining is the transfer of pure metal from the anode to the voltage applied for electrolysis is such that the impurities of more basic metals (more electropositive i remain in the solution as ions whereas impurities of the less basic metals (less electropositive down under the anode as anode mud or anode sludge.

Dear student,,
Here in this pare more basic element means those elements which are more electro positive in nature i.e they can easily donate its valence electron. example Sodium is more electro positive 
And less basic elements are those which are less electro positive in nature that is their affinity to donate electron is less as compare to more electro-positive element.
