what is difference between electromagnect and magnect

While I agree with Jay D on his first two statements, I would disagree that electromagnets produce a more intense field in a smaller package. The electrical windings required to produce intense fields take up a lot of room and permenent magnets, notably the rare earth magnets, can pack a lot of flux in a very small package. Electro magnets can always be made that produce a larger field than permanent magnets, but not necessarily in a smaller package.
