what is the criterion for the selection of stationary phase in chromatography?

The criterion for the selection of stationary phase in chromatography:-

Stationary phase

1.should have different adsorptivity for each component of mixture.

2.shouldhavelowvapour pressure and high operating temperature.

3.should be thermally stable

An ideal stationary phase is selective and has different adsorptivity for each sample component in order to ensure separation, as well as a wide array of operating temperatures. It has to be chemically stable and have a low vapour pressure at high operating temperatures. Some criteria for selecting an adequate stationary phase are:1. Is the stationary phase selective enough in separating the sample components so as to separate them one by one?2. Can there be an irreversible chemical reaction and can the mixture components be separated?3. Does the liquid phase have a vapour pressure low enough at operating temperature?4. Is it thermally stable?
