What is Umbra and Penumbra?? Please tell me

The dark region of the shadow is called umbra
And the lighter one which is grey is called penumbra
Ex- at the time of solar eclipse, the region of the earth from where the sun is completely invisible is called umbra region
And the region from where the sun is partially visible is said to be penumbra region

Dear friend umbra is the area where there is complete shadow and penumbra is the area where there is partial shadow when there is an eclipse. From umbra we can see complete eclipse and from penumbra we can see partial eclipse.
