what type of defect is formed when nacl is doped with cdcl2? what is its effect on mechanical strength and electrical conduction of nacl?

When sodium chloride is doped with cadmium chloride, the type of defect is called an IMPURITY DEFECT. Here, to maintain electrical neutrality, each Cd2+ ion replaces 2 Na+ ions. Thus, the density of the crystal decreases due to cationic vacancies produced. hence the mechanical strength of crystal also decreases. But it will not effect the electrical conductance of crystal as overall charges are same.
