When a light body collides elastically against a massive stationary body (MCQ) :
(i)Both bodies exchange their velocities after collision.
(ii)Light body rebounds after the collision with an equal and opposite velocity.
(iii)Light body rebounds with twice its initial velocity.
(iv)Massive body moves with the velocity of light body.

Dear student

When a light body collide with a much heavier body at rest, the velocity of the light body is approximately reversed and the heavier body remains approximately at rest. For example a ball dropped on earth rebounds with equal reversed velocity attaining approximately the same height from which it falls provided the collision is elastic.
So correct option is (ii).
