when nitrogen inversion takes place

Nitrogen inversion is a process of rapid transition of the nitrogen atom from one side of the plane formed to the other side. This occurs in enantiomers.

 This lone pair is present on nitrogen trigonal planar structure from a tetrahedral structure, in the case of ammonia.
