Which hydrogen bonding is stronger intermolecular And intramolecular hydrogen bonding

Dear Student,

Intramolecular hydrogen bonding is more stronger than intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Intermolecular hydrogen bond is formed between different molecules and so it can be broken by application of heat or pressure whereas intramolecular hydrogen bonding is present within a molecule and so cannot be broken by heat or pressure.

Intramolecular hydrogen bonding is much stronger than intermolecular hydrogen bonding as polar covalent bonding is much stronger than dipole interaction.
  • 0
intramolecular forces envolved covalent bonding while intermolecular forces envolved weak electrostatic interaction
so intramolecular hydrogen bonding is much stronger
