Which of the following solution has highest specific conductance...?
1.0.01 M CH3COOH
2.0.01 M NH4OH
3.0.01 M NaCl
4.0.01 M K2SO4

Hi Sukhvinder,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Since, the concentration is same for all the electrolytes mentioned here, it cannot be the case. But, only for option (4) K2SO4, the number of ions per unit volume that carry the current in a solution increases on dilution, as it dissociates into 2 cation K+ and 1 anion SO42-, rest dissociates to 1 cation and 1 anionic species. Hence, it is option (4) in which the ionic concentration increases and so is the specific conductance.
