Bepin Choudhury was made to believe that he went to Ranchi in 1958. He met a stranger named Parimal Ghose at the shop of Kalicharan in New Market. Mr. Ghose implanted the idea of the Ranchi visit in Bepin's head. Later, Bepin's friend Dinesh Mukherjee re-iterated that both he and Bepin went to Ranchi in 1958. His school friend Chunnilal convinced him that he had booked tickets for him for his Ranchi trip. It was revealed later that this story was concocted by Chunnilal to teach Bepin a lesson for his growing indifference towards his plight.
