Why does the boiling points of isomeric haloalkanes decrease with increase in branching?

Branching in haloalkanes decreases the surface area of compound which directly affects the weak Vander Waal force acting between two molecules. Hence force of interaction also decreses. Therefore there is a drop in Boiling point on branching.
