Why enol content is lesser in CH3COCH2COOC2H5 than CH3COCH2COCH3
Dear student,
Enol formation is possible if there is a hydrogen present on the alpha carbon of carbonyl group so more the no of hydrogen more will be the enol content. As we can see in both caes CH3COCH2COCH3 is having more hydrogen on alpha carbon attach to carbonyl group as compare to CH3COCH2COOC2H5 so enol content is lesser in CH3COCH2COOC2H5 than CH3COCH2COCH3.
