why the dipole moment in methane 0?

The net dipole of the molecule is equal to the vector sum of the dipole moments of the various bonds present in the molecule. The symmetrical polyatomic molecules have zero dipole moment because the individual dipole moments of the various bonds present in the molecule cancel out each other.

The methane molecule has four polar bonds and all of these  are oriented far from each other in such a  way that dipoles of individual bonds cancel out and the net moment becomes zero.
