As per the latest notice issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the students appearing for the class 10 and 12 board examinations in 2020 are required to have a minimum of 75 percent attendance as of January 1, 2020. The board has directed all schools to calculate the attendance of students as per the fixed percentage. Students whose attendance is less than 75 percent, will not be allowed to appear for the board exams.

The CBSE board exams are beginning from February 15 and admit cards will be released only for students who are eligible by all means including that of mandatory attendance of 75 percent. The compiled list of candidates with short attendance will be sent to regional offices and the final decision will be taken on or before January 7, 2020.

The candidates with a genuine reason behind the shortage of attendance will have to submit the supporting documents, with the authorities by January 7.

In cases of prolonged diseases, apart from the request of the parents, two more things are required to be submitted i.e., a medical certificate from a government doctor along with all the medical reports and a recommendation from the school.

In cases of shortage of attendance due to sports events, students are required to submit the sports certificate along with the request from the parents and the recommendation of the school.

In cases of loss of a parent a request from the other parent, along with the death certificate issued by the concerned authority and a recommendation letter from the school has to be submitted.

It must be noted that no case will be considered post the deadline i.e. January 7, 2020, and all the standard operating procedures for calculation of attendance will have to be followed and the applications without the necessary attached documents will not be considered by the board.
