Indo African Expression Contest for CBSE and State Board Students

india africa connectThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with the India – Africa Forum Summit (IAFS), Ministry of External Affairs, has initiated a week-long Creative Expression Contest for all school students from classes 1 to 12. The contest is open to all CBSE affiliated and recognised State Board schools all over the country.

The Creative Expression Contest is part of the third edition of the India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) that will be held in New Delhi from 26 – 29 October, 2015. The India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) is a celebration of the close partnership between Africa and India. It is an acknowledgement of the shared history of the two countries as well as their future prospects. From the struggle against colonialism and apartheid, India and Africa have emerged to jointly accept the challenges of globalization.

The details of the contest are given below:

1. Entries are to be submitted in three class categories i.e. Classes 1 to 5, Classes 6 to 8 and Classes 9 to 12.

2. Schools shall conduct competition as per the details below from 21st to 28th September, 2015.

3. Students can express themselves in any of the 22 scheduled languages and English.

2. Classes 6 to 8 Essay (500 words)

Common threads between India and Africa with reference to the History, Culture and Literature.
3. Classes 9 to 12 Essay (700 words)
OR
Poem
Any one of the following:1. Mahatma Gandhi and Africa2. Folktales and Literature of Africa3. India-Africa Relations: The way forward.

 

4. The schools shall conduct the competition and select the best entry in each category for onward submission to the respective Regional Offices of CBSE.

5. Each Regional Office will select five best entries in each category and submit them to the Joint Secretary and In-charge (Academic & Training), CBSE.

6. The top five prize holders at the Regional Level in each category will be awarded Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3,000, respectively. At the National level, the top three prizes in each category will be Rs. 40,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000, respectively.

Winners at the Regional Level and the National Level will be awarded with a Certificate of Merit. All winning entries at the Regional Level and the National Level will be displayed in the social media account of India-Africa Forum Summit, Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs. The final results will be declared by Indo-Africa Forum Summit, Secretariat.
