Now students who want to add a foreign vocational course to their credentials can now do so by contacting their school. CBSE has tied up with the Central Institute of Technology, Australia to offer the programs to the schools affiliated to it in India. The CIT is a vocational education institution under the department of training and workforce development that has designed the curriculum and will train teachers in the course that will be offered to Indian CBSE students.

The program will be offered to all senior secondary level students in school and the fee is in all likelihood lesser than that of the regular international course. It will offer four courses, namely, design fundamentals, business administrations, music technical production and beauty services.

The syllabus and the resource materials will be provided by CIT and will be contextualized by CBSE to suit the Indian scenario. January 2013 will see the teacher training workshops taking place and courses are likely to be implemented with effect from the academic session.

CBSE plans to offer the courses as a trial to 100-150 schools and is asking schools to volunteer for this exciting new change.

The design fundamental course will offer the foundation for a career as an artist, or an industrial or interior / exterior designer. The business administration course will offer specialist skills in business administration. The music technical production course will give a practical introduction to recording processes.
