Why does a bicycle rider lean inwards while taking a turn, decreases his velocity and adopts such a path whose radius is large ??

The cyclist bends slightly inwards on a curved road  because by doing that he/she is generating a centripetal force which, being directed towards the center, helps in turning around a bend.
