Analysis of CBSE 12 Economics Board Paper 2014

The CBSE Class 12 Economics exam was held on 26 March 2014. The overall consensus was that the paper was a balanced one. Learning Economics is quite important , as sound knowledge of Economics enables students to take better decisions for investments. Through this subject, students can make many useful strategies that can solve several complex problems.

Let us apprise you all with a brief analysis of how was the question paper this year around.

Key Highlights:

1. Level of Difficulty :  Moderate Meritnation rates the paper a 6/10

2. The paper was not lengthy at all

3.  Any trick question?? – Yes

6 questions can be categorized as difficult/tricky. These questions are as follows:

Ques 9: What is the behaviour of average fixed cost as output is increased? Why is it so? .

Ques 11: A consumer consumes only two goods A and B and is in equilibrium. Show that when price of good B falls, demand for B rises. Answer this question with the help of utility analysis. Is the following revenue expenditure or capital expenditure in the context of government budget?

Ques 25: Explain the meaning of balance of payments deficit.

Ques 29: Government raises its expenditure on producing public goods. Which economic value .Giving reason explain how should the following be treated in estimating gross domestic product at market price ?

(i) Fees to a mechanic paid by a firm.

(ii) Interest paid by an individual on a car loan taken from a bank.

(iii) Expenditure on purchasing a car for use by a firm.

4. Thankfully- No out of syllabus questions & no incorrect questions in the paper
