CBSE Class 10 Maths: Important Topics for SA1 Exams

Practicing becomes all the more important when it comes to Maths. Here are the most important chapters which you must not skip for your Class 10 SA1 Maths exam:

1. Trigonometry: 

a) Trigonometry has a weightage of about 20%. It is easy if you are able to understand and visualize its applications. Once you are able to understand the subject, you will start loving it.

b) Furthermore, whether you like it or not, trigonometry is going to follow you for the rest of your school life so taking small steps now would really help you enjoy and score best at the subject in the long run.

Write the formulae on a paper, put it on your study room’s wall and practice the questions as much as possible on the daily basis.

2. Algebra (Polynomials, Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables):

This chapter too has a weightage of about 20%. In your previous class, you have already studied about this chapter, so it will be easy to nail it. 

(Above two sections will make you secure 40% of the total marks.)

 

3. Real Numbers:

In this chapter, important concepts are as follows:
a) Proof of irrationality
b) Terminating and non-terminating decimals
c) Euclid’s division lemma

4. Polynomials: 

Important concepts here are as follows:

a) Zeros of polynomials
b) Division of polynomials
c) Relation between zeros and coefficients

5. Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables: 

Some important concepts in this chapter are as follows:

a) Geometrically representing equations in two variables as lines

c) Solving equations of two variables via different methods such as cross-multiplication.

6. Triangles:

Theorems play an important role in this chapter. Points to note in this chapter are as follows:

a) Prove all theorems with proper statements and concepts you are using.
b) Draw the diagram while attempting the question.

7. Introduction to Trigonometry:

Almost all the topics taught in this chapter hold great importance as this chapter forms a base for trigonometry. Things you should know from this chapter are as follows:

a) Relation between trigonometric ratios
b) Table for trigonometric ratios of some standard angles
c) Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles
d) Trigonometric identities and their proofs.

8. Statistics:

Most important to remember:

a) Different methods for calculating mean or any missing frequency.
b) Methods to find median and mode for a given data.

Last Minute Tips & Strategy

 

1. List all the formulae from all the different chapters and revise them. Memorize only the crisp definitions along with the derivation part.

2. The more you practice, the better it is, as solving questions will provide you an idea on where you are going wrong and how you could improve on them.

3. Attempt the previous year question papers, sample papers and other model test papers properly within the time frame as it will help you manage time during the exam.
