6 Careers Non-Medical Science Students Can Pick after Class 12

With a boom in the education industry in India, there are several career lines that have opened up for students to choose from after class 12. Especially, students studying with Science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths, etc., can go for careers even outside the science stream, owing to the prospective careers in all the subjects. Most students with the ‘PCM’ subjects aspire to do a course in Engineering and prepare for the same through coaching classes, and other such means, while others are still giving all their options a good thought.

1. Bachelors of Technology: For those of you who wish to enter the world of engineering and explore the various streams available in it, you can go for a course in Bachelors of Technology. A course in B. Tech. is usually 4 years long and can be combined with other subjects, in integrated courses in certain universities. You may choose from a wide set of streams like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications Engineering, among several others.

2. Architecture: The second most popular course among PCM students is architecture. A course in Architectural Studies can be pursued from one of the many known universities and colleges in India or abroad. these studies include Drawing, Design, Sculpture, Planning and Architectural Studies in good amount of depth. Studying architecture makes possible the chances of working for major architectural firms or for government organizations too.

3. Information Technology: Those of you with optional subjects like Computer Studies or any of the Computer Languages, or IT as an option in school may also consider going for Information Technology as a career. It is one of the careers that sees a lot of employment in India and several career possibilities as well.

4. Defence services: People from the Science background, with maths as a subject can also consider applying to the Indian Air Force and The Indian Navy. These two careers are one of the most honorable and reputed ones you can possibly go for, when in India. Rounds of examinations and tests are there in store for you, but once you make it to either of these two forces, you are in for a life of serving your nation in a very dignified manner. Not to mention, the perks in the job are great too!

5. Hotel Management: A very different set of subjects from what you learnt at school as a science student will be taught to you if you go for Hotel Management. This is one career that can be taken up by all the three major streams. A career after Hotel Management may branch out into lifestyle, business management in hotels, culinary fields and others.

6. Others: Science students with Maths may also go for subjects in other streams like Commerce and Arts. Lately, there has been a big trend of Science students heading for commerce Subjects like Economics, Business Administration, Business Management and the likes. So, even if you do not wish to take up a science-specific career, your science background may give you an added advantage in other careers as well.
