The SA1 or the CBSE Summative Assessment I is almost here. Students are busy with their last minute revisions and trying to get the most out of their study hours these days.
Meritnation is here to give your exam preparation the final polish in Maths. Here are some special tips insights into how the question paper is set to test all that you have learnt in class 11, right up till September!
Take a note of all the important topics you need to brush up before the exam so that when the question paper arrives in front of you on the D-Day, you will be able to smile and say – Ha! I know this! 🙂
This is completely new concept for students, this is theory based chapter, weighed of approximately 12%. Students are advised to understand the definitions and apply these definitions while attempting the paper.
Important Topics:
1. Concept of Subset, Superset and Power Set
2. Union and Intersection of Sets
MERITNATION TIP: a.) One 4 marks question is sure from the topic “Practical problem on union and intersection of two and three sets”. b.) If possible draw a Venn Diagram. c.) Practice as many questions as you can. |
This chapter has the weightage of 10 marks, one 6 marks question is expected to come from this topic. To achieve 90% and above in the examination students are supposed to do R.D Sharma and other reference books.
Important Topics:
1. Cartesian Product of Sets
2. Concept of Relations
3. Real Valued Functions
MERITNATION TIP: a.) The frequently asked questions are from these chapters based on “Concept of Relations” and “Quotient of Two Functions”. b.) Remember graphs of all of the functions provided in section “Some functions and their Graphs” in NCERT textbook. c.) Practice as much questions as possible. d.) Domain and range take important part in this chapter, so do as many as questions on this. e.) Even if the complete solution to a particular question is not known, try to write till the known steps. |
Whether you like it or not trigonometry is going to follow you for the rest of your school life so taking small steps now would really help you in enjoying the subject in the long run.
Important Topics:
1. Signs of Trigonometric Functions
2. Trigonometric Functions and Their Graphs
3. Trigonometric Identities
4. Trigonometric Equations
MERITNATION TIP: a.) Trigonometry is full of formulae, so learn them all, the easiest way to learn them is write them on a paper and put it on your room’s wall, revise it again and again. b.) Almost all the topics taught in this chapter hold great importance as this chapter forms a base for trigonometry. c.) Things you should know from this chapter are as follows: 1) Relation between trigonometric ratios 2) Table for trigonometric ratios of some standard angles 3) Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles 4) Trigonometric identities and their proofs 5) Practice as much as possible for this chapter! |
This is student’s favourite topic, most of the students find this chapter interesting. You just need to practise questions from this topic. One question is sure from this topic.
This chapter comes up with a completely new concept. Trust us this is really a very compelling chapter.
Important Topics:
1. Modulus and Conjugate of a Complex Number
2. Polar Representation of Complex Numbers
MERITNATION TIP: a.) Most of the questions are asked from “Polar representation” and “Quadratic Equations with Complex Roots”. b.) You can prepare this chapter in less time, so do not keep it chapter away from your final exam preparation. c.) Practice NCERT questions as well as questions from R.D Sharma. |
Important Topic: General and Middle Term of a Binomial Expansion
MERITNATION TIP: a.) Practice questions on above topic. b.) Calculation mistakes here are much prone to happen, so practise these questions very well before the exam. This chapter is very easy and scoring. |
Important Topics:
1. Concept of Permutations when All Objects are Distinct
2. Concept of Permutations when All Objects are Not Distinct
3. Concept of Combinations
Important Topics:
1. Solving Linear Inequalities in One Variable
2. Solving a System of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables
This is most important chapter from the exam point of view (heavy weightage and many concepts). All topics are important, since one is linked to another, so you can’t skip even an exercise.
Important Topics:
1. Sum of n Terms of an Arithmetic Progression
2. Properties of Arithmetic Progressions and the Concept of Arithmetic Mean
3. nth term and Sum of n Terms of a Geometric Progression
4. Concept of Geometric Mean and Its Relation with Arithmetic Mean
5. Sum of n Terms of Special Series
MERITNATION TIP: a.) Since this chapter is very vast, the variety of questions can be asked from this topic, so apart from NCERT, practise other books too. b.) These questions can take a lot of time, so try a variety of questions at home so that you gain confidence for your final examination. c.) Most probably questions are asked on sum of series. In this “Sum of n Terms of Special Series” is teacher’s favourite area. We suggest you to try different questions on this topic from different reference books. d.) Leave at least 10 minutes for revision of answer sheets. |
Important Topics:
1. Angle between Two Lines
2. Point-slope and Two-point Form of Straight Lines
3. Slope-Intercept Form of Straight Lines
4. Intercept Form of Straight Lines
5. Normal form of Straight Lines
6. Distance of a Point from a Line and Distance between Two Parallel Lines
Important Topics:
1. Circle
2. Parabola
3. Ellipse
4. Hyperbola
Important Topics:
1. Distance between Two Points in Three Dimensional Space
2. Section Formula
Important Topics:
1. Limit of a Polynomial and a Rational Function
2. Limit of a Trigonometric Function
