  1. Kanha says

    Dear Meritnation experts
In the aman Chadda question come decentralization because initative of employees in decentralization concepts..
And another books like Vk publication initative is the importance of decentralization….
    Pls reply fast…

    • says

      Dear Kanha,
The answer to this question (Aman Chadha) is Delegation. This is because the question mentions how Aman found the volume of work impractical to handle by himself and thus, decided to expand his team. After this, he found Ishan and Vrinda capable enough so that he himself can focus on the objectives. He was also able to expand his operations after hiring the two subordinates. Thus, here, he is delegating the tasks to his subordinates and focusing on his own objectives and operations. Moreover, the question is clearly asking about which concept of management helped Aman in focussing on objectives, thus, the correct answer is delegation.
Note: If the question had asked which function of management is being performed by Aman, then the answer could have been staffing. Also, if the question had mentioned that Aman is distributing decision making powers and authority among the lower levels or subordinates, then the answer could have been decentralisation. However, this is not the case. Hope this helps! :)

      • Swati says

But he was not delegating the work within prescribed limits rather he involved both new employees wholly in his new project with complete faith so it must be decentralisation

        • says

          Dear Swati,
Yes, he did involved the two new employees in the new project and had complete faith in them, however, the main reason behind it was to distribute the burden of tasks that he had. Moreover, in decentralisation, the power and authority is distributed among the lower levels of management and not just with the immediate subordinate. As in the given case, there is just one level of transferring of work, i.e. between the employer and the employee, therefore, the answer will be delegation.
I hope this clarifies your doubt.

          • Kanha says

This question silent is about the level of management…. So subordinates on the lower level
According to knotz level of management depend on organization….
            Hence it is decentralization

          • ShubHam bansal says

Dear mam, in question there is no where mention that those to subordinates belongs to same level ,team is written there , so they may be working at different level.. Kindly help

          • Swati says

But mam generally we read this statement “delegation of authority means multiply it by two and decentralisation means multiply it by many” and in givem case study work is given to two more guys.
Moreover, mam it was not mention in the question anywhere that the new recruited guys have to report back to Aman. It means resposibility authority is distributed at huge level as well as accountability upto some extent. As well as last paragraph of case study clearly highlight the importances of decentralisation (initiative, employees are enthusiastic and trustworthy)
            so it must be decentralisation

          • says

But it’s said he expanded his team. Thus he already had a team working and then shared his work with the two new employees. So it’s actually decentralizing. The story is wrong and just because it used exact sentences from ncert doesn’t make delegation right.Cbse should grow up!

      • Kanha says

But initative is in the concept of decentralization is clearly shows in ncert book
Another fact company do recruitment no annop
And in the question ask clear which concept used by annop

        • says

          Dear Kanha,
Yes, initiative is a concept of decentralisation, however, in the question the emphasis is on why he hires the new employees, i.e. to share his work load.
Moreover, the lines such as ‘The volume of work makes it impractical for the manager to handle it all by himself, as a consequence, if he desires to meet the organisational goals, focus on objectives and ensure all work is accomplished, he must delegate authority.’ is handpicked from the NCERT book, under the topic Delegation. Thus, the correct answer is Delegation.

          • ARSHREEN says

u r rite mam…as the wrk is divided only between two persons….decentralisation means evenly distribution of authority at all levels..

        • bhumika says

The Q14 of Delhi set 2 where it has asked the technique of scientific management, can the answer be motion study and time study???

        • Parul says

Even i agree with you recruitment is also being done and that is external recruitment (campus recruitment) so i don’t understand that why they are considering only delegation as the last answer….it can decentralization or recruitment too….

          • ARSHREEN says

recruitment doesnt help the mangers to FOCUS ON HIS OBJECTIVES….it is clearly written wht is cncept used which helped him to FOCUS ON HIS OBJCTIVES..

          • Gurjeet says

Yeah staffing is also a write ans because Anoop is able to achieve her objective due to those employees who are recruited through campus recruitment . Both employees are enthusiastic and able to complete their work . In external source there is. a merit of Fresh talent .So I think Staffing and external source concept is also ryt answers

        • Kanha says

          Dear Meritnation experts
I feel regret to telling correct answer is decentralization in annop gaur question…
Pls accept it bcoz some experts told and u need a deep discussion on this question and Pls again posted ryt answer on meritnation site….

        • Lavanya Mathur says

          Hello experts,
My query is that the question specifically states exactly after the recruitment concept in the question is over that he was thus able to focus on his objectives and as the question is asking for the concept not the function so external recruitment concept of staffing function should also be correct more over different qualities like enthusiasm trustworthiness etc. helped anoop focus on the main objective which shows infusion of new blood and competitive spirit factors of external recruitment are highlighted here.

      • Abhay says

Yes u may be right but if u read the importance of staffing u will be realized the correct answer is staffing

      • says

According to cbse last year answer key only students have to quote lines given in NCERT book and last year answer key was also based on NCERT lines so the lines given in the question clearly tell that it is DECENTRALISATION as it is the heading given in NCERT text book and our answers should be based on lines given in ncert not imagination. It is not given in ques that the work is given to employees who are working at same level so answer is DECENTRALISATION and any more doubts will be cleared when cbse will issue answer key.

  2. Adithya says

Can you please check whether Function of market can be also ‘ mobilisation of savings and channelising them into the most productive uses’?

    • says

      Dear Adithya,
For this question, the answer that you have provided is not incorrect, however, the more appropriate or correct answer is the allocative function performed by the financial markets. This is because, although the function of ‘mobilisation of savings and channeling them into the most productive use’ is no different from the allocative function, but the statement given in the question is directly handpicked from the NCERT book from under the allocative function.
However, now it depends on the examiner if he will consider both the functions correct or not. For this, I will suggest you to wait and check the solutions which will be soon given out by CBSE on their site.
In case of any other doubt or query, feel free to ask.

      • Adithya says

Thank you for your reply. One more query…..outside delhi region…..hrm wants to find the number and type available…..so it should be workforce analysis right?

  3. aman chhaparwal says

Answer is delegation. If u read the paragraph given in ncert book below the topic “delegation” , lines were clearly given.

    • S.K Singh says

Go to the depth of the question 3 members means authority×3(more than 2) so answer=decentralisation too

      • Nikita says

        Hi,

There’s a detailed answer given in the blog by our top Commerce faculty, Richa Gupta. Kindly refer to that to clarify all your confusion.

  4. Sonu says

    Hi Kanha,

I really like that you have much knowledge about it. I do agree that initiative is one of the outcome of decentralisation but please keep it in mind it’s also the outcome of Delegation.
Yes, the question was quite tricky but delegation was clear as a senior only delegated the work to his only two immediate superiors..
In Decentralisation work along with authority is delegated throughout the organisation in a systematic manner..

    I hope that helps…

    • Kanha says

In annop gaur question only two employees were recruited and he gave all authority to them
So How u Say that delegation of authority….
Pls clarify it or many others professionalist why said decentralization…..
      Pls give clear cut answer
Why a single questions have different views of different professional

  5. says

    Hii meritnation experts!
I INSIST THAT few of the answers are not correct
    1. controlling process step is measuring actual performance rather than analysing deviation because it is clearly given in NCERT (you can check)
2.If you ARE SAYING that aman chadha answer is delegation ,
similar case study was in 2015 paper and its answer was decentralisation
if you are saying that aman has not dispersed authority to lowest levels than i may remind you that if you read question carefully he was alone and now he had 2 more emp. so he has dispersed authority to the lowest level .
also last line says new employees were able to develop initiative which is same line of NCERT decentralisaion importance
moreover there is a line in question he was able to expand his team ,share his burden equally …….so if may reconsider your ANSWER

    regards

  6. anmol says

In this case ….How can be delegation of authority is possible without staffing……I think this is an exceptional case…….. Because no one can delegate authority without performing staffing..First Aman chadda recruit staff then delegate authority… Staffing is also considered as concept in this case! Delegation has no. Meaning without staffing…So please reply fast to me…..plzzzzz

    • Kanha says

      No my dear
      Pls read questions carefully
Company do recruitment But in question ask about which concept used by annop gaur….
We read in +1 company and owner ARE different
      So Pls read carefully

      • Nikita says

  7. K Kumar says

Hi meritnation experts i wanted to have my doubts solved regarding the solutions provided by you ..
I- in 1 marker questions concept involved is workload workforce analysis and not staffing because staffing is a function
2- the techniques are time study and simplification
3- can the allocative function be also written as mobilisation of funds and channelising them into most productive uses?
    Please reply at the earliest.

    • says

yes i also wrote the same it could not be delegation ….you cant always go by the ncert language sometimes brain application is also necessary……and may be the new employees were at different levels
so it means to all level delegation i.e decentralization

  11. says

    Dear Meritnation experts,

Actually I want to ask you that the answer of Q. 24 of set -2 All India Region you have given as Delegation of Authority but according to another website it is staffing. Also in the question where it is given that Anoop Gaur is expanding its powers or distributing its authority. It can be said that he is expanding its team or the Recruitment,Selection and Training of Selection concept is taking place.

Please explain me and please give water to my thirsty throat

  12. says

    Respected Mam

  13. nancy ahuja says

It is clearly written in NCERT that delegation is done so that superiors could concentrate on more important matters but in the case study both the employees and Aman, are working on the same project . It also shows that all have the same powers and authority. though nothing is mentioned about it in the question. Moreover, decentralisation is done when employees are competent capable and resourceful , like vrinda and ishan in the case study. Also, employees can exercise initiative only in Decentralisation..Though the lines are handpicked from ncert from the topic delegation but there are slight differences which tells answer to the question could be both delegation as well as decentralisation.

  14. nancy ahuja says

In fact the word INITIATIVE makes a lot of difference because it is not mentioned anywhere in the topic delegation. So decentralistion is also the correct answer.

  15. Sudeeksha says

I wrote staffing (external sources). Because external sources is a concept. And that helped Anoop Gaur. Can you tell me that how will they mark my answer? Will they give 5 or 4 out of 6? Or cut the entire answer? Please reply.

  16. Hayley says

Both decentralization and delegation are correct in this case. But DECENTRALIZATION is more appropriate in this case. Reason being:

    For decentralization:
    1. He found them trustworthy.
    2. Initiative can be only exercised in decentralization because it gives subordinates full freedom.
    3. Also, If we multiply by two it means delegation but if we multiply by many then it is decentralization. In this case two employees were appointed. No where it has been mentioned that they were working on the same level.
    4. If CBSE wanted to confuse us then why they mentioned that initiative was exercised? This makes no sense.
    5. Since he decided to EXPAND his team it means definitely decentralization has been practiced.

Answer provided by meritnation on the other hand is also justifiable.
    But decentralization is appropriate.
    BECAUSE,
“Everything which goes to increase importance of a subordinate’s role is decentralization.”
Also 1. RELIEF TO TOP LEVEL MANAGEMENT and 2. DEVELOPS INITIATIVE are the functions of decentralization.
CBSE should give answer in both the questions.

  17. Sahil rapriya says

Staffing is also appropriate in anoop gaur que…..meritnation experts plz read it carefully,,staffing & delegation both r rgt

  18. says

In Delegation and decentralisation,in both authority is distributed but in question there is no matter of authority therefore campus recruitment should also be considered as right answer

  19. Shivam says

first of all i want to clear that without staffing no concept like delegation as well as decentralisation can take place as employees are joined and then workload is passed on them
and in anoop gaur case by appointing efficient staff and then delegating the work he is able to focus on his work
therefore primacy should be given to staffing as employees join org. in staffing function only
for query refer poonam gandhi imp of staffing point 7

  20. Sanju kumar naik says

the right answer must be “staffing” as it is clearly mentioned that 2 employees will be recruited from nearby college (campus selection)

  21. vishesh arora says

IS there any expert from meritnation who can answer me??????.
In Q-25 set 3 (anoop gaur’s question) if I have written “external sources of recruitment” and explained it so well , then how marks will be given in this , assuming all explanation to be 100% correct…

So IS there any expert from meritnation who can answer me??????.

    • Pooja says

Because first the members are needed to be recruited then the concept of transfer of authority arises the basic step taken to solve problem is recruiment

  22. Prabhat says

    Respected teacher,
When we delegate authority, we multiply by two,.
When we decentralised authority, we multiply by it many.
So, given case is about two subordinates, then it will be 2&2 i, e. 4 that means it is decentralisation
