The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will be conducting the JEE Advanced examination for academic year 2016. The dates of the examination will be declared soon. JEE Advanced 2015 was conducted by IIT Bombay.
The first stage of the written test for an IIT aspirant is to clear the JEE Main exam, which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The top 1.5 lakh candidates get to sit for the JEE Advanced exam which is solely conducted for admission the 20 IITs all over the country.
Each year one of the IITs from amongst the different institutes spread over 7 zones, take charge of conducting the coveted examination. IIT-Guwahati has been entrusted for the same for the year 2016. Although, this year IITs are mulling over to revert to the old system of entrance exams, with only a single decisive entrance test for admissions in the IITs.
