JEE Main 2015: CSAB extends deadline to fill up IIT, NIT seats

Students check resultThe Central Seat Allotment Board (CSAB) revises the date of filling up the seats through special counselling to get admissions in IITs, NITs and GFTIs through the JEE Main 2015 to August 17.

After the seat allotment process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) came to a conclusion, more than 3000 seats were still left vacant. This special round of counselling is happening since many candidates with higher ranks had blocked their seats but did not report to take admissions, leaving many seats vacant. While most seats in unpopular courses are vacant, popular courses such as Computer Science, Communication Engineering and Electronics, have also gone empty.

The candidates were expected to download the e-challan and pay a fee of Rs. 45,000 and candidates under the reserved category had to pay Rs. 20,000. Previously the date of depositing the fee and fill & save their choice of course was August 11.

The CSAB has apparently received more than 10,000 applications for the same in the 3-day window for this special counselling. Candidates who did not have a seat through the joint seat allocation process along with students who have JEE-Main ranks but are without seats will be granted this opportunity.
