AIPMT Retest on July 25, Students apprehensive about admissions

CBSE has announced that the AIPMT Retest will be held on July 25. The SC had directed the CBSE to hold the test and declare result by August 17. The previous AIPMT 2015 exam, held on May 3, 2015 and attempted by 6,30,000 students, had been trashed by the Supreme Court due to leakage of question papers.

With the new AIPMT 2015 on July 25, the students have about a month’s time to prepare for the exam, and many of them are apprehensive that it might not suffice for their preparations and will hurt their chances of getting into good medical colleges.

Many students are also in a dilemma because the delay in AIPMT 2015 has had a cascading effects on the academic calendar of admissions. The cause of worry for students here is that this could possibly rob them of alternatives because admissions to colleges and other medical institutions would close. Some students are also considering not appearing for the AIPMT retest and taking admission through the state admission exams.

Some important instructions for students appearing for AIPMT Retest:

1. The CBSE has declared that no fresh applications will be accepted. Only the students who appeared for the previous AIPMT 2015 held on may 3, 2015 will have the option of reappearing for the retest.

“No fresh applications will be accepted for this examination and it will be a retest only in respect of the candidates who had applied within the stipulated time from 01/12/2014 to 31/01/2015 with requisite fee”, read the official statement by the CBSE.

2. Students are advised to keep checking the AIPMT website for important instructions and updates regarding AIPMT retest 2015.

3. CBSE has also asked all candidates to ensure that their registered e-mail IDs and mobile numbers (given while submitting their application for AIPMT) are functioning, in order to receive the updates issued by the CBSE from time to time.

AIPMT is the most important pre-medical entrance exam and over 6 lakh students appeared for the exam in 2015. As per a report by Hindustan Times, “The exam was marred by large-scale cheating. It was alleged that those who cheated concealed their phones, Bluetooth devices and SIM cards, which had the answer key, in their undergarments. Large-scale irregularities, including leakage of answer keys , had come to the light earlier, with the investigators informing the court that the answer keys of 123 questions were transmitted through 75 mobile phones in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Haryana.”

The AIPMT 2015 exam result was originally scheduled to be declared by the CBSE on June 5, 2015. The court asked the police to identify all the beneficiaries, estimated to be about 700 in number, and eliminated from the results. However, the police were able to identify only 44 beneficiaries, thereby putting the sanctity of the AIPMT result at stake. The SC bench therefore has ordered a re-examination for the AIPMT 2015.
